Militia Arrives in Washington

Five companies of Pennsylvania militia arrive in Washington, D.C.
These are the first of the volunteers to arrive in the capital.

The U.S. Armory in Harper's Ferry, VA, made famous by the John
Brown Raid,  is abandoned and burned. However, most of the
equipment is still intact.
