Seventh New York Arrives

The Seventh New York arrives in the Capital and is quartered in
the Capital Building. With the arrival of more troops some of the
tension begins to ease in Washington. However, many
government employees resign and head South. In a bold move
the President suspends the writ of habeous corpus on the line the
troops will use between Philadelphia and Washington. Lincoln
also extends the blockade to parts of North Carolina and Virginia.
