The President, Secretary of State Seward and other officials visit
the Seventh New York at the capital.
Many military organisation are being musted in all over the North
and South. For example April 28th is the organisation date for the
Laduerdale Guards which becomes Company H of the 4th
Alabama Infantry. The name comes from the fact that these men
are recruited from Lauderdale County, Alabama. On the same
day men are enlisting in Company A, 18th New York from
Schnectady, New York. The nation is well on its way on the march
towards war.
