Virginia Convention Convenes A convention convenes in Richmond to see if Virginia will secede. Abraham Lincoln Declared President The electoral college declares Abraham Lincoln President. Both Lincoln and Jefferson Davis are in route to their respective capitols to take up the mantel of the Presidency.
