President Davis Appoints Commissioners

Jefferson Davis appoints three commissioners to negotiate with
the Federal Government. They are Martin j. Crawford, John
Forsyth, and A.B. Roman.

Governor Pickens Writes to Davis about Fort Sumter

Governor Pickens writes from Charleston to Jefferson Davis, "we
feel that out honor and safety require that Fort Sumter should be
in our possession at the very earliest moment."
