Navy Takes Action

Instructions of the Secretary of the Navy to Flag- Officer
Pendergrast, U. S. Navy, commanding Home Squadron, regarding
movements of United States vessels.

NAVY DEPARTMENT, February 2, 1861.

SIR: On the receipt hereof you will direct the
Powhatan to  
and the
Pocahontas to Hampton Roads, immediately. You will
proceed with your flagship, the
Cumberland, to Hampton Roads
also, and there await the further instructions of the Department.

The
Macedonian, which sailed from Portsmouth, N H., on the 13th
of January for Pensacola, will be ordered by the Department to
repair to Vera Cruz.
