Battle of Bull Run
The first major land battle takes place in Northern Virginia. It will
be know as First Manassas in the North and Bull Run in the
South. It is a Confederate victory even though the issue of who
would win the battle was in doubt all day.
This is the battle where Thomas Jonathan Jackson receives his
nickname of "Stonewall". He will state until his death that the
nickname "Stonewall" should go to his brigade and not to him.
