Governor Claiborne Jackson of Missouri issues a proclamation
and calls for 50,000 state militia. He claims that the Federal
government is trying to over throw the rightful government of
Missouri.
Chief Jon Ross, principal chief of the Cherokee nation, writes a
letter urging the Cherokee to join with the Confederacy.
